Auckland CAMPERVAN NEW ZEALAND

New Zealand | Auckland to Kaikoura

First off, we had an amazing, AMAZING wedding. Rarely does something live up to the expectation (or what is in my head, anyway), but the way everything turned out, it really surpassed anything I could have even imagined. We had an awesome time hanging out with friends, family, and having lots of good food. Saying good bye to Texas was hard, looking forward to our honeymoon somewhat softened the blow. We flew back Monday morning from AUS to SFO, said goodbye to friends who also traveled with us on the flight home, hung out with our kitties, and then re-packed for our three-week adventure. It didn’t leave much time to think, absorb, or even allow time to figure out what to pack.

We’re Married!

Thanks SO MUCH to everyone who made it out to the ranch to celebrate our marriage with us! We had an amazing time, and can’t believe how beautifully everything came together thanks to the hard work of so many of our friends and family. It was truly a very special day in our lives, and even better because we could share it with so many people we love.

Weather report

Initial reports for this weekend have indicated that there is a 20-30% chance of “isolated showers” on Friday and Saturday. Depending on which report you read, the rain, if it happens, is most likely to occur late evening.

Much of the reception site has large, indoor spaces, where we can take shelter from the rain. We will also have some tents that we can use if needed. Please bring an umbrella if you think you will need it.

We are still planning on proceeding with our original plan of having our ceremony at the ceremony site, at 4:30 sharp, followed by a reception at the reception site immediately thereafter.

See everyone is 4 days. Fingers crossed the rain is minor!

FAQs, take 2

Some of you guys have been asking similar questions. We have created an FAQ’s page to answer some of the most commonly asked questions.

Top two questions:

What do I wear?
Normal wedding attire. No jeans, tshirts, flip flops, tennis shoes, jorts, that kind of thing. Anything BESIDES jeans and t-shirt is fine. The ranch is in a rustic setting with uneven terrain. Because of this, you may not want to wear stilettos, but sturdy heels would be ok. Also, you may want to consult the weather. It may be hot in the day, but cooler at night. The majority of the wedding and reception will take place outside, or in spaces that are open to the outside elements.

How do I get to the wedding venue?
Important Note: The entrance is ONLY ACCESSIBLE from Highway 281. Google Maps, MapQuest, and other navigation systems’ maps currently indicate entry access via Hwy 71 or Hwy 962, but those roads dead end in private, locked gates!  USE THESE DIRECTIONS.

Two weeks to go! Can’t wait to see y’all there!

Guest list is officially closed!

Thanks to everyone who RSVP’d, sent us wonderful cards, and also sent us gifts already! We’re looking forward to seeing everyone less than a month!

For those who have not yet booked lodging, we heard that the Hampton Inn is all booked. Don’t worry, there are plenty of other options in the area for lodging.

Need more inspiration/things to do? Check out the Marble Falls website.

Finally, for those who have asked/been curious, I created a page listing all our vendors.

See y’all soon!

INVITATIONS ARE IN THE MAIL!!!!!!!!!!!

IMG_8485

Excuse all the exclamation marks, but we were really excited to finally get these guys into the mail. Talk about a huge weight being lifted off our shoulders! It took us a little longer than planned, but seems like the mail was extremely fast (we mailed them Saturday afternoon from SF, and most of our Texas peeps received them on Monday. That is crazy fast).

Please RSVP online, or by returning the self-addressed postcard included in the invitation package (even if you have told us verbally you will or will not come–this will allow us to get a final count), by September 23, so we can make sure we have enough food/tables/etc. for everyone.

If you are wondering about dress code, location, maps…all that good stuff, please check out the FAQ’s section of this website.

So far, so good. T-2 months!

Pictures to come shortly.

Invitations to be sent shortly. Finally.

IMG_1926We have finally come to the end of a very, very, very long road — invites. A project that took over three months to complete. A short summary of the 500-step process involved:

  • designing the invites, which was impossible until I was able to grasp the look and feel of the wedding. To do this, I tried to create a series of logos and design elements that would be able to be carried throughout the invitations, and  wedding. Some graphic designers are absolute genius at this, I, however, am not. This took me FOREVER. Thanks to my designer-friends and non-design friends (and sly) for helping me sort out my zillions of idea.
  • enlisting my friend to help me with production (she’s way better in print production than I am). This basically saved my sanity, and if it weren’t for her help, I’m pretty sure I would have jumped off the bridge at this point. We spent many countless hours bouncing ideas off one another, setting up files, running test prints, fixing things.
  • enlisting yet another friend to help me with the copy for the travel guide.
  • after all content had been gathered, then came the nightmare of printing the invites on a circa 1928 hand letterpress borrowed from a friend. I took one course in letterpressing about 10 years ago — this was nothing like that class. Beyond setting up the files, we had so many issues regarding block size, gauging, creating a ‘make-ready,” embossing, pantone matching, alignment, cropping right angles, paper type. And on and on and on. To say this is a labor of love is a major understatement: the people around me must have really loved me to put up with all this crap.
  • finally, after days (and long nights) of setting up, and getting everything just right, we pulled our first print. After ensuring we knew what we were doing (rather late in the game), I brought on Sly for manpower., who pumped out a stack of invites.

As more of you start to plan your trip to our wedding, we’ve received quite a few questions about what to do in Texas, where to sleep, etc. We have placed a lot of that information in our FAQ’s section of our website. Hopefully, this helps to answer some of your questions, if not all.

For those unfamiliar with the area, we also created a mini travel guide of our favorite places in and around the Hill Country area. If you want to get a jumpstart on planning your trip, you can download the guide below. Otherwise, hang tight…a copy of this booklet will be included in our invites which will be shipping out soon.
